About the Honorees:

Daily Planet Health Services – Nonprofit Excellence
As the region’s leading provider of healthcare for individuals experiencing homelessness, Daily Planet Health Services reduces barriers to care through Mobile Outreach and a hands-on partnership with The Salvation Army Central Virginia. Daily Planet supports shelter guests through outreach, Rapid Re-Housing assistance, and weekly onsite medical and behavioral health services at the Inclement Weather Shelter (IWS), strengthening pathways to stability and whole-person care.

“We are honored to be recognized for our partnership with The Salvation Army Central Virginia. Through our Integrated Medical Outreach Program at the Inclement Weather Shelter, we are providing comprehensive healthcare and supportive services to some of our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Dr. Patricia Cook, Chief Medical Officer, Daily Planet Health Services.

Mr. Dick Guthrie – Individual Excellence
From 2010–2025, Dick Guthrie served on The Salvation Army Central Virginia Advisory Council and Advisory Board, championing youth and neighbors experiencing homelessness across Greater Richmond. A trusted mentor and longtime supporter of the mission, he continues to inspire others to join in Doing The Most Good.

“It’s been an honor to serve on the advisory council and advisory board over the years. The Salvation Army consistently shows up for our community, helping thousands of individuals and families across the Richmond region,” said Mr. Guthrie.

Marco’s Pizza RVA – Corporate Excellence
Marco’s Pizza RVA has been a steadfast champion of The Salvation Army Central Virginia, with longstanding support of the Christmas Assistance Angel Tree program and Christmas in July. Last year, Marco’s expanded its partnership to support Run for Hope and other community initiatives—serving families through generosity, volunteerism, and neighborly care.

“It is a privilege to stand alongside The Salvation Army Central Virginia in serving Richmond. Our team is honored by this recognition, and Harry Ragsdale and I are deeply proud of them for showing every day that small acts of generosity and care make a real difference in our community,” said Sara Ragsdale, Co-Owner, Marco’s Pizza RVA.
