The Salvation Army's Cooling Center is the Only Cooling Center Open on the July 4 Holiday
Forecasted temps of 92° and higher extends Cooling Center Hours
RICHMOND, Va. (July 3, 2024) — On Thursday, July 4, The Salvation Army Central Virginia Inclement Weather Shelter will be the only Cooling Center open on the July 4th holiday. The Cooling Center will be open with extended hours from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for adults 18 years and older. Hydration and snacks will be provided.
- Address: The Salvation Army Central Virginia Inclement Weather Shelter is 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue, Richmond, 23222. The Cooling Center entrance is located at the back of the building, which faces Sledd Street and the U.S. Post Office.
- Extended operating hours July 4-6: Due to forecasted and persisting temperatures on July 4-6, the Cooling Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Regular operating hours: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when temperatures are forecasted to be 92° or higher.
